I. Brief Introduction of BKLF

As a Chinese private partnership, Beijing Kingdom Law Firm（BKLF） was founded in 2001 by the famous lawyer Zhang Xingshui after he received a master degree of law in America and came back to homeland.

As a full-service law firm, BKLF provides a wide range of legal services domestically and internationally. The firm's comprehensive practice covers a wide variety of legal matters, ranging from local litigation to international communication.

II. Our Lawyer Team

Since built, BKLF has established a wide range of practice dedicated to satisfying the needs of clients. Now our team is made up of more than 20 lawyers and several assistants. Our lawyers can function as professional counselors, offering advice to people in their conduct of daily transactions and other affairs or helping them draft legal documents. They can also act as advocates by assisting parties in litigation or out-of-court settlement of legal controversies. They represent clients in court or before a regulatory body. III. Our Specialty

BKLF has established its reputation particularly in criminal cases, land claim, estate ownership compensation and human rights protection. For instance, we helped peasants in Zhejiang Province to win the famous “Longquan case”, which is the first case in China that the State Council judged against the provincial government and protected the peasants’ interest to the most. BKLF is also dedicated in public welfare, having deep concern for the constitutional progress of China and paying comprehensive attention to its legal development.

We promote legal complementation of China through practices, such as participating in the Danish platform for Human Rights--Revision of the Criminal Procedure Law and the Protection of Human Rights in China. During 2006 to 2008, we cooperated with Danish Institute for Human rights, Chinese Social Science Academy, Haidian Procurator and Guangzhou University to carry out a series of practices. On the basis of empirical research and detailed study, we put forward proposals to amend criminal Procedure Law on China’s legislative agenda, providing various materials and constructive suggestions to legislators in order to enact better law. We also successfully hold lots of seminars to discuss complicated cases or social phenomena which attracted numerous experienced scholars and renowned professors. Those discussions we hold gain wide attention of government and medias, raising public awareness of legal rights and promoting China’s legal development.

Profile of Director Zhang XingShui：

Zhang Xingshui, director and chief lawyer of BKLF, born in Qingdao, now settles in Beijing, is a member of China Democratic National Construction Association and co-director and researcher of Open Constitution Initiative.

Zhang worked in Department of Justice after graduating from China University of Political Science and Law in 1993. Later he studied abroad at the Law School of Temple University and received a master degree in law. Later, he came back to homeland and set up Beijing Kingdom Law Firm. He has a good command of English and is a member of National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyer (NACDL).

Having a continuous pursuit of justice and freedom, Zhang is well known for his predominant work in civil rights protection. He pays much attention to the vulnerable group and the poor and provides them with unselfish help, upon which he receives various awards from home and abroad.

Mr. Zhang believes every individual should have a responsible and mild attitude to the legal development of our society, so that we can play our part to make a more democratic and civilized country, which will benefits all citizens.
